Faith Love and Marriage October 6th 2012

Mr. & Mrs. Jeremy & Natalie Macke gave us the
pleasure of helping them through every aspect of their wedding as Full Planning
Clients. When we first met Natalie and her mother Monica they wanted to go over
the details of our contract very carefully, which was a good sign for us. We
knew right away that this was going to be a client who would
communicate to us exactly what they want and with that, we would be able to
guide them to the wedding of their dreams. Natalie is honest, humble and
beautiful inside and out, which made working for her and Jeremy not only
pleasurable but an honor. Since Faith is the cornerstone of their lives, we
wanted to make sure that guests felt that presence throughout the wedding. When looking through the photos below notice that Natalie and Jeremy are not just posing they are praying. You will see details such as crosses, bibles and tables named after bible verses. Our classic conservative couple used a color palate blending neutral champagnes with hues of greys then added an elegant touch of purples which we felt paired beautifully with the Toledo Country Clubs interior. From concept to completion you can see how we captured Natalie’s soft kind nature, Jeremy’s consistent commitment to her and their shared love for the outdoors all while telling their story of Faith Love & Marriage.

Shabby Chic Design

It is no doubt right now my favorite design style is shabby chic with a smattering of french country and cottage style mixed in. Although I would tend to say my personal style is more Modern, and simple with clean lines and stratigially placed statement pieces,I fell in love with the shabby chic style ever since I flipped through my first issue of Country Living magazine, oohing and ahhing over the beautiful, distressed finds. In fact, Target’s ‘Simply Shabby Chic’collection by Rachel Ashwell is a favorite ‘happy place’ of mine, and I could literally stand there admiring the countless sheets, comforters, curtains, throw pillows, and other beautiful shabby chic accents for an incredibly long time. There is something so beautiful about all the tiny imperfections. It is just beautiful. And, although the shabby chic style tends to incorporate lots of whites, creams, and ivories throughout, I like to throw in pops of color every so often just to keep things interesting. A splash of turquoise or hot pink can really brighten up a piece and make it your own.

You can imagine, then, how much I absolutely adore shabby chic wedding decor in particular, which combines a few of my favorite loves into one. Just follow our tried + true recipe: add one part shabby + equal parts chic, a handful of handmade, a dash of DIY and fluff until fabulous. It is perhaps the most imperfectly perfect style that exists. One of my favorite elements of shabby chic style within the wedding scene is how you can make a beautiful display out of a few key pieces. The key is to find soft palettes and hues to complement one another, and add a main focal point to make the display pop. The below shabby chic photo display  is just one example which has stolen my heart. It lends some serious inspiration making it easy to DIY, even if you feel clueless about how to style your own display. I think the most important point when creating a photo display is to add lots of personal touches. The more personalized it is, the better. This way, guests can get a glimpse into your love story simply by stopping by and taking a quick peek. When I was planning my wedding, I had no idea how many unique display ideas were out there; if I had, this is definitely one I would have chosen to incorporate into my decor. Take a peek at some of my favorite shabby chic finds that I have discovered, they would be the perfect addition into your wedding and afterward in your love nest…

FROM RUNWAY, TO ROOM, TO TABLETOP

While looking for design inspiration I often go back to my roots, interior design. A lot of trends in the event planning field evolve from trends found within the interior design and fashion industry. I am one who loves color, textiles and fashion! The best part of my job is when I can infuse elements from interiors and fashion into my special events.

While searching for fresh new blogs to follow I came across 2 different blogs written by 2 very talented and lovey ladies Erin from elements of style and For the love of design by Kelly Moore. I loved their segment from runway to room and from runway to tabletop so much that I’ve decided they were too good not share and have decided to mesh the two together so that you can see the original inspiration translated into 2 different mediums. Who knows maybe it will inspire you too :)

High Style, Low Stress Entertaining

TIP 1: Color for High Style!
Selecting one color for your party will give you high style and impact! Colors I love include red, yellow, orange, green and for a chic modern ‘Delano‘ look, think about all white! When you have selected your color, use it for table linen, lighting, floral, cocktail napkins, a specialty drink and more!

TIP 2: Gorgeous Floral!
When thinking about centerpieces, consider using a glass or crystal container for the base, especially if you have centerpieces with height. Glass and crystal will not only allow your floral to pop, it will also allow your dinner guests to engage in conversation easier and see each other across the table. Table conversation is an important aspect of any successful dinner party!

Jennifer Cummings of Beautiful Blooms by Jen does a wonderful job! Take a look at some of the modern and eye catching arrangements she has put together!

TIP 3: Yummie Delights!
Sweets are always a party delight! Take your favorite candies and arrange them in various glass containers. Put mini scoops in them so your guests can easily help themselves! Additionally, I like to purchase little clear cello bags and twist ties so guests can fill up a bag and take it home as a favor!

This is a great way to also bring color into your event, its also a fabulous way to involve your guests! Who doesnt love candy. Think of it as a little candy store at your event.

Elite Events offers full candy station displays!

TIP 4: Dress the Part!
Ask your guests to dress in theme! This gives you an abundance of free decor, plus it’s just fun! For an extra surprise, rent a rolling rack from you local rental company and costumes from a local costume shop and let those who thought they were going to get away with not dressing up select a costume as they enter the party! Additionally, I like to hand out numbers and hold a contest, giving out prizes for the most original, etc.

Do not forget to capture these wondeful moments of your event. Hire a photographer! Mary Wyar & Kim Koluch are amazing photographers, sure to tell the story of your event with their amazing photography!

TIP 5: Say Cheese!
Personalize your event by placing beautiful framed photos of family and friends in a prominent place. Not only do these become a conversation starter, they will bring back fabulous memories! Adorn the photos with candles. Candles are the most cost effective and romantic way to create an atmosphere for your party (you can never have too man
y!).
