Day 1 of the 2014 Designer Challenge came with strategic selections of images that we wanted to portray as a vintage radiant orchid wedding. We decided to choose the above images for the following reasons. The bouquet that was chosen shows the radiant orchid that we were striving for in many different tones and a variety of beautiful flowers. We admire the above table setting because the tall vase with flowers blooming over the top set off the look of the overall setting. The table also shows wine glasses with radiant orchid napkins that stand tall and bring the whole piece together. Above we displayed creative decoration tags that show inspirational quotes and a farewell from the bride and groom that guests can take with them. The wedding cake brings elegance and a vintage look that will make heads turn to admire its stature. The ladder is used to display various flowers and a mirror to show the dinner menu in a creative, vintage style. We decided to choose the wedding dress because it’s a classical white dress, but it spiced up with the radiant orchid crinoline. Finally, we chose this style of wedding invitation because it is unique with it’s wooden look, as well as, portraying the vintage theme in advance to the guests of the wedding.

We are always looking for new fun interactive elements to bring to events. While visiting in Arizona I fell in LOVE with the ultra chic Fire and Ice Nitrogen Bar. Having ice sculptures or luges at your event has been a long standing tradition. A more recent tradition is the interactive sweet station, where guests can pick and choose tasty treats to build and take home with them. We have also seen the chocolate fountain and s’mores stations…BUT The Fire and Ice station is a combination of all of these things! There is a lot of attention being given to liquid nitrogen in the world of food, particularly molecular gastronomy, and I would really like to bring this unique idea to some of our events!
This concept is versatile for food and beverages! For the element of Ice use Nitrogen. As you know Nitrogen or dry ice will instantly turn anything frozen and cold. Give your guests an experience that will not soon be forgotten with a gooey sweet fire and ice treat! Your guests will have a blast playing with different types of combination’s of melted chocolate over frozen yogurt or using frozen fruit as ice cubes in cocktail glasses rimmed with melted caramel.
To create the element of fire use burners to melt chocolate and caramels. You can even use an exposed burner for toasting marshmallows! The combination of melted gooey and frozen cold will send your guests over the edge!
Shake up your Drink Menu, offer a Molecular bar with nitrogen. Offer up drinks like nitrogen martini or tequila shake up !

It is no doubt right now my favorite design style is shabby chic with a smattering of french country and cottage style mixed in. Although I would tend to say my personal style is more Modern, and simple with clean lines and stratigially placed statement pieces,I fell in love with the shabby chic style ever since I flipped through my first issue of Country Living magazine, oohing and ahhing over the beautiful, distressed finds. In fact, Target’s ‘Simply Shabby Chic’collection by Rachel Ashwell is a favorite ‘happy place’ of mine, and I could literally stand there admiring the countless sheets, comforters, curtains, throw pillows, and other beautiful shabby chic accents for an incredibly long time. There is something so beautiful about all the tiny imperfections. It is just beautiful. And, although the shabby chic style tends to incorporate lots of whites, creams, and ivories throughout, I like to throw in pops of color every so often just to keep things interesting. A splash of turquoise or hot pink can really brighten up a piece and make it your own.
You can imagine, then, how much I absolutely adore shabby chic wedding decor in particular, which combines a few of my favorite loves into one. Just follow our tried + true recipe: add one part shabby + equal parts chic, a handful of handmade, a dash of DIY and fluff until fabulous. It is perhaps the most imperfectly perfect style that exists. One of my favorite elements of shabby chic style within the wedding scene is how you can make a beautiful display out of a few key pieces. The key is to find soft palettes and hues to complement one another, and add a main focal point to make the display pop. The below shabby chic photo display is just one example which has stolen my heart. It lends some serious inspiration making it easy to DIY, even if you feel clueless about how to style your own display. I think the most important point when creating a photo display is to add lots of personal touches. The more personalized it is, the better. This way, guests can get a glimpse into your love story simply by stopping by and taking a quick peek. When I was planning my wedding, I had no idea how many unique display ideas were out there; if I had, this is definitely one I would have chosen to incorporate into my decor. Take a peek at some of my favorite shabby chic finds that I have discovered, they would be the perfect addition into your wedding and afterward in your love nest…
