Grooms Cakes, Cake Pops & Cupcakes Ohhh My!

Most teachers look forward to June July & August so they can escape the classroom and enjoy vacation. This teacher looks forward saying goodbye to my little dancers for the summer and kicking into high gear at Elite Events. The past few months have been a whirlwind filled with touching love stories, beautiful destinations and magazine worthy details taken by our areas top photographers.

What captured me most took 8 months of physical and mental discipline to prepare for. I spent my winter fasting from home made pies, petit fours and birthday cakes just so I could truly appreciate the goodies that I knew would be waiting for me to sample at each event. THANKFULLY, I was not disappointed. The beautifully decorated and mind-blowing-amazing flavors that came from the kitchens of  Chef Hannah Alvarez owner of Butterfly and Kathy Shortridge owner of Kathy’s Kitchen: Home of Sweet Creations  made my winter fast worth doing all over again. I was seduced by monkey headed cake pops, Grand Mariner French Buttercream and well…my husband, who LOVED the Ohio State Grooms Cake Hannah and Kathy worked together to create (everyone knows the way to a mans heart is through his stomach!)

WARNING: The photos you are about to view will cause you to DROOL. Side effects include, cravings, oogling & increased appetite. Take a peek at these deliciously adorable treats at your own risk!

 Warmest Regards,

Katie & David are Married~An Elite Event

Katie & David were married July 31, 2011 in a classy country outdoor wedding ceremony at the beautiful County Line Orchard located in Hobart, Indiana.

This was a  special wedding for us here at Elite Events– don’t get me wrong, we become close with the majority of our clients however, when your planning a destination wedding there typically is several site visits, vendor meetings, conceptual design meetings, you get the picture. We end up spending a lot of time with our clients. When Katie & David came to me, they had 2 things: a photographer: Jp-Photography, and a vision.  They wanted a Classy Country Wedding! Instantly I was excited & intrigued.

When I asked Katie & David what style of wedding they wanted and how they envisioned their wedding day to look they both agreed, “Definitely UNIQUE. We envision our wedding day to be out in the country either in a barn or in a rustic setting, while still maintaining a elegant feel.”

Katie and David were married on one of the Hottest days of the year in one of the most beautiful and unique weddings we’ve ever had the fortune of being a part of.  Designed head-to-toe by Elite Events infusing Katie and David’s love for all things country, cows, sweets, and DETAILS this wedding was nothing short of perfection!

Their main inspiration for the entire wedding was the beautiful venue itself. The new Timber Frame Barn offers an amazing one of a kind event space and is nestled among a gorgeous apple orchard harvesting over 20 different kinds of apples.  Pulling inspiration from the colors found in the different apples harvested at the orchard as well as the Timber Frame Structure itself which was where Katie and Davids reception would be held, we had a design direction complete with color scheme.

This is the moodboard that we created for Katie & David : It represents the overall feel and design direction of their wedding.

The bride wore a gorgeous yet simple gown. Her shoes could not have been any cuter or suiting for the theme, red cowboy boots! . The bridesmaids were in red colored tea length dresses.

Their ceremony took place in a field nestled within the gorgeous apple orchard. Guests were transported to the ceremony via a tractor pulled wagon.  Upon arriving to the to the beautiful ceremony site guests were greeted with a refreshment station featuring infused tea, lemonade and water.  Once guests helped themselves to the refreshments they were invited to be seated on beautiful natural wooden chairs. Another unique element were the custom made wooden benches that were used as reserved seating for the family.  Elle Musique (String Trio) Provided beautiful music setting the scene for a breathtaking ceremony.   One of my favorite elements of the ceremony were the programs.  Katie & David really wanted something unique yet fitting to their event.  Elite Events created custom dye cut programs shaped like an apple, that coordinated with the rest of their stationary which we also had the privilege of designing.  Tree stumps with Bronze lanterns and yellow mums lined the aisle,  The alter was flanked by a beautiful hand made wooden arch, with hanging lanterns and a gorgeous spray of flowers featuring orange tiger lilies, yellow no eye Gerber daisies, red alstroemeria and green hypericums.

All the fine details of the day from every single bloom to the handmade signs labeling the food, favors and drinks, were carefully thought out and designed as a group effort by Elite Events, Katie & David.  Katie & David handmade the gorgeous chalkboard signs that were scattered around the reception, the table numbers that were created from pieces of natural wood and hand painted, complete with handmade napkin rings featuring a cow and wrapped with twine. Everything was just beautiful!

Their tablescapes will always be a favorite of mine– and I had so much fun seeing Katie & David’s vision come together. They had a mixture of round tables anchored by fruit wood chiavari chairs with beautiful floor length champagne pintuck linens as well as soft floor length ivory linens creating that natural and elegant feel without taking away from the space. Each place setting featured a mason jar mug that guests were asked to fill with their signature drink “blackberry sangria” and toast to them as husband and wife.  A apple red polyester linen napkin, tied with twine and accented with the brides favorite animal a cow, were placed at each setting. Candlelight was another important feature to Katie, with that being said each table featured either apples that were individually cored and held tea lights or mason jars filled featuring a floating candle.

My initial design sketch

The floral design was a collaboration with Kristina Lynn Floral. Kristina helped to make our visions a reality! As you will see below I worked with Katie & David and designed 3 different centerpieces.  Each centerpiece had unique elements that as a whole embraced the Classy Country Apply Orchard Theme seamsly.  I found wood boxes in 2 different sizes that were the perfect addition to the round tables,

  1. We used the smaller of the two boxes for the first arrangement, filled with a mix of flowers in shades of orange, red, green and yellows.  These accompanied with mason jars filled with coordinating flowers and flanked with fresh apples that were cored to hold tea lights completed the look of one of the tables.
  2.  The second centerpiece was a tall centerpiece featuring a cylinder vase filled with bright red apples, topped with a beautiful arrangement featuring yellow daisies, red mini carnations, green spider mums, orange tiger lily, bear grass and curly willow that tea lights were suspended from.  This arrangement was flanked by floating candles in mason jars.
  3. The third arrangement utilized the larger of the 2 wooden boxes and was composed of the same flowers found in the other arrangements just many more of them.  This centerpiece was also flanked by fresh apple tea lights.

Candles were scattered all over in freshly cored apples and  and mason jars.

The simple and super tastey cake was created by Strongbow Bakery and featured fresh flowers and sat on top of a hand cut tree stump. Perhaps my favorite part of the wedding, Katie & David supplied two tables of sweets also baked by Strongbow Bakery complete with a Doughnut grooms cake made of County Lines Famous sugar Doughnuts, the tables also included  bags for guests to take the tasty treats home.

Katie & David we feel honored to have been a part of your wedding day! Best wishes for a fruitful and long lasting marriage!

A huge thank you to Jp-Photography for some of the beautiful images below! I simply cant wait to see the entire gallery! The images that you see without the JP watermark were taken by yours truely.

Kati & Bryan are Married~An Elite Event

Kati & Bryan are finally Married, and here are the photos to prove it :) As you all know our very own Event Coordinator Kati, was married a few weeks ago.  I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you a slide show that I put together of images from her fabulous photographer MARYWYAR.

The day could not have been any more PERFECT.  It was such a wonderful day, not just for Kati and Bryan but for me as well.  For the past 9 months I have been working side by side these 2 and assisting them bring their vision of their ideal wedding day to fruition.  The look on their faces when they saw everything come together was priceless, and something I will always remember.   The entire place was exactly what they had envisioned. Tailored,  Sophisticated and accented with gorgeous flowers.  Little elements referencing their love for their favorite band (Dave Mathews) surrounded them in a tasteful fashion, and made their event very unique and personal.

It was my honor to not only guide you through your day but to actually be apart of it as well.  Much Love to you both as you being this wonderful new chapter of life together!

Head on over to Marys blog to see for yourself just how fabulous their day really was!

Studio Madness, Invites and More

I feel very fortunate to be so busy and have the ability to do something I love day in and day out. It has been design mayhem over here at the Elite Events Design Studio, as our wedding season is in full swing and so are our designs. So many people have been asking what we have been up too, so I thought I would post some pictures of the beautiful and very different invitation suites I have been so diligently working on the last several weeks. Each one differs from the others, and is uniquely interesting,  I cant possibly pick a favorite, because I love them all.  Most of these designs are for our Premier Planning Clients. Therefore, you will see as we begin posting images of their completed event, everything flows together seamsly, from their save the dates, down to their linens, napkins, invitations even their menu cards. At Elite Events we love cohesiveness and we aim to please :)

This particular invitation suite was created for our couple Katie and David who are having a “Classy Country Wedding.” Guests will be transported by wagon through the apple orchard to a breathtaking field where they will be saying their i do’s. The party will continue with dinner and dancing in a breathtaking barn.  Each invitation was sealed with a custom seal and wrapped with twine, very appropriate if I do say so myself . If you are interested in viewing Kati and David’s moodboard and save the dates that we created earlier in the design process for them feel free to check them out here and here.

Next we have a very chic wedding inspired by dale chihuly.  This beautiful wedding will be Emily and Nate’s wedding which will be taking place at the gorgeous and very appropriate Toledo Museum of Arts Glass Pavilion this July.  This couple is super fun, and has great taste.  It has been so much fun taking their inspirations and running with them! I cant wait to see the floral arrangements for this wedding they are going to be AMAZING!

This couple also went with a beautiful pocket fold enclosure.  I love enclosures, they are a beautiful way to present your invitation and all of the coordinating pieces that go with it, in a very neat and organized fashion. I custom designed a graphic that resembles chihuly’s work and used that as the element that will help unify all of the pieces.

To see more about Emily’s design process and the mood board we created for her you can view it here!

Next up we have the super fun Invitations that we designed for Jen and Kyle.  um, can I just say I LOVE these! I love that they are somewhat interactive, I love that they are circles, and the colors could not be more fun!

Be sure to check back on the details from this wedding, if you do not already know Jen is “the Jen” from Beautiful Blooms by Jen! So you can imagine that her flowers are going to be pretty amazing :) For more pictures on Jen and Kyles Conceptual Design you can peep it out here!

Next up: Kati and Bryan! As you all may or may not already know our very own ELITE is getting married in August! I am so very honored to be apart of the planning process as well as the actually wedding party! Yes you read correctly.  I am actually Kati’s Matron of Honor :) Not only do Kati and I make a hell of a team here at Elite Events but we are also very close friends :) which makes my job even that much more enjoyable.

If you remember from a previous blog post Kati and Bryan are HUGE DMB fans, which was the inspiration for the save the date, and overall design, so naturally I would infuse design into her fabulous invitation and incorporate some luxurious papers :)

For more info on Kati’s save the date, and Inspiration board you can check them out here and here :)

Last but not least, these are some fun detail items that I designed for Meghan & Dan’s Wedding that took place this past weekend! Let me just say I am a huge fan of the little “bling” accents :) So elegant and so Meghan! AS you can see the Damask pattern was very carefully used throughout the event and added that very fun yet classy touch!

This fan program was one of my favorites, it was custom dye cut and looked amazing in person.  The seating chart was also one of my favorite touches :)

I’m very excited to hear what you all think!
